Building A Planetary Culture
Peace And Global Citizenship

Project: Building Citizenship
(ADMINISTRATION | PRINT VERSION)
SUMMARY
To enable children and young people to develop their fullest potential as
responsible citizens of the world.

To promote respect and tolerance for others and responsibility for the world we live in, international education is an essential tool. By learning about and from people of other cultures and religions, children gain an understanding and acceptance of different ways of thinking and living, and by making friends from different backgrounds they develop a sense of responsibility and a knowledge of the interdependence of their lives and the lives of others.

Children move from their everyday environment into one where different cultures co-exist. This encourages an even greater understanding of the differences and similarities that comprise the world we live in.
It is important to prepare such international experiences thoroughly in order to minimise possible conflicts..

With all age groups there is a need to promote co-existence in this technological age, and with adolescents it will help them to see the similarities between them and the world over.

The adult leader has a two-fold role: provide access to the activities and ideas which the children can take part in, and lead by example.
